Elena Salmistraro

Elena Salmistraro is an Italian designer and artist based in Milan. Her work is expressive, imaginative and highly recognisable, often sitting between design, art and illustration. She is known for using colour, pattern, texture and character to create objects with strong visual identity and emotional presence.

For Flaminia, Salmistraro designed the Spire washbasin collection, including Spire+, and the sculptural Falala countertop washbasin. Flaminia describes Spire as a line of countertop washbasins inspired by the sinuous shape of a shell, while Falala features a dotted relief that enhances the sculptural quality of ceramic and explores three-dimensionality.

Her work gives designers a way to introduce artistry, movement and expressive form into bathroom spaces. Rather than disappearing into the room, Salmistraro’s basins become focal points, making them suited to interiors that call for colour, personality and a strong design statement.
